Summary:
On December 20, 2009, I watched the new movie Avatar. This movie began with 22nd century American marines finding a new planet, "Pangaea." This planet was one of the only planets with life on it. However, this planet also is surrounded with a type of air that humans can't breathe. So, the humans can use masks with oxygen, or go in a chamber-bed where they can be transferred into the body of what is called an "Avatar."
The avatar is like your dream. If you wake up, the avatar falls asleep. Anyone can wake you up from the chamber-bed at anytime. However, the damage is real. If you get hurt in your avatar form while controlling it, you also die. If you die controlling your avatar, your avatar also dies. These avatars are made from the DNA of the creatures of the planet and the DNA of the human using it. Humans are transfered into their avatar body so they can breath on and explore the planet.
However, the people of the planet don't like the humans invading. The army then sends a human named Jake to learn the ways of these people. He finds a clan called Na’vi. He befriends the clan leader's daughter, Neytiri, and is trained to be like one of them. Jake is taught how to hunt and fly. He is taught to ride a horse like creature, but fails terribly. On the other hand, when he flies the birds, he masters the skill in one try. To ride and hunt these animals, the people must connect the end part of their hair to the hair of what they want to ride. They must do it before to animal runs away or before they fall down.
He learns well but soon found some bad news. The army is going to destroy the home tree of the Na’vi. He tries to help but fails. After the home tree is destroyed, the Na’vi starts to dislike Jake for his unhonesty. The Na’vis tells him to go away but also wants help. They don't want their ancient tree of Aywa to be destroyed. Aywa is their all mighty god. The humans are planning to destroy the ancient tree. Jake is taken out of the chamber-bed and is banned for using it for helping to protect the home tree. As a result, Jake goes with his friend and a pilot to escape the army and help the Na’vis.
Jake goes back into his avatar body and goes to the Na’vis. Now the people don't really trust him. To gain their trust, Jake goes flying to capture the legendary bird. There have only been 3 warriors that ever rode it to fly. He succeeds. He flies in with another bird, above the legendary bird, then jumps off onto the back of th legendary bird to capture it. Capturing the legendary bird not only means you have the skills of a master hunter, but also the bird has chosen you to be its partner. With the birds trust, everyone would follow Jake for they know the bird only chooses worthy hunters. Everyone would give Jake respect and trust. He gathers up all the tribes on the planet and begin to fight the humans attacking.
The battle is both on sky and on land. The battle on land is intense. Both sides are fighting well. However, the humans are in the lead. As the warriors of the planet falls behind, the god, Aywa helps them by sending creatures to help attack. Now these creatures are really powerful. Some are bigger then elephants and others are faster than cheetas. These has helped win the battle on land. For the battle on the sky, Jake and his army of warriors from the clans manages to destroy the planes.
Unfortunately, the leader survived with a robot and landed on the land. He goes to where Jake sleeps in his chamber-bed to destroy Jake. If Jake's body is destroyed, his avatar falls to forever sleep. Neytiri kills the leader of the army, that is, after Jake falls out of the bed-chamber. Jake quickly goes to grab a breathing mask, but faints before he reaches it. Neytiri comes to the rescue and puts on the oxygen mask for Jake. Jake wakes up. The battle is won. Jake sends the other humans back to Earth but decides to stay. There Jake later married Neytiri and spent his whole life on the planet.

This is a pretty good movie. It has lots of action and adventure. It gets you surprised of what will happen next. I watched it in 3D but it was not much 3D. It was only just a little bit 3D. It is fun to watch with a friend. I would rate this movie 9 out of 10 stars. Everyone should watch it though. It has a very interesting plot and creative characters. The actions are almost unpredictable but make sense. This is a movie full of surprise and suspense. Nothing compares to it.
