Science Camp

I went to science camp on November 19, 2008 and came back on November 21, 2008. Science camp is basiclly a field trip that has a little science in it. For science camp, my school went to Mission Springs. We hiked there, played there, learned there, ate there, and even slept there! It was fun all day. We hiked as low as the creeks below the houses to examine the critters that lie there. We hiked as high at the peak of the mountains only to find dying oak trees. Our hike was creepy as we hiked to the darkest places by ourselves without flashlights in the middle of the night. Hikes also became gross for me as we had to put banana slugs on our nose. My hiking group, the Super Duper Extravagenza Hikers, also played the craziest games and had the hardest challenges. For example, we played Samri Jack (a great warrior) , a game of trust (crazy name, huh?). The biggest challenge I had was rock climbing. It was hard, but I was able to climb to the top of that 40 ft. wall. It was kind of unfair that my hiking group got the hardest wall. But on second thought, that's what made it a challenge. Now that I think about it, that might be actually a good thing.
It's not right for kids to play all day, so we had to learn some things. Did you know that there is a type of fungus that are killing many oak trees in America? We even had to learn while eating. Every time before we ate, we get a quiz question. If we get it correct, we get points. After eating all those great foods there, we had to learn to put food in catorgories of non-eatable compost, compost, and waste. After the tiring activities, we got to sleep there. We slept late and woke up late every day there for the long day ahead of us.
